Elco classic trunk Boats Review and Specs
Year: 1926Manufacturer: Marotta Yachts of Sausalito
Price: US$125,000
Charming classic wood motoryacht built back east in the day when “if you had to ask how much it cost, you couldn’t afford it”, she’s structurally sound, twin diesel powered and lying San Rafael in a potential liveaboard slip. Elco is now best remembered as the builder of most of the WWII PT boats, including JFK’s famous PT-109, but before that they were renowned for large custom builds for the likes of William Vanderbilt, Baron Rothschild, Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford. There were 11 of these 62-footers built and this particular example is one of the last remaining. She’s surprisingly roomy for a vessel of this era and has a very functional, airy layout. It’s clear that she was built more or less without regard for cost and will make an outstanding liveaboard or Classic Yacht Association cruiser. Shown by appointment, please.
