As reported in a recent survey, the condition of “Matriarch” can best be described as flawless. She has received careful maintenance and extensive upgrades – any and all structural components that needed replacement have been replaced. The decks and cabin top have been rebuilt using marine plywood covered with Dynel sheathing set in West epoxy resin. Her garboard planks were replaced using Honduras mahogany. The entire bottom was refastened in 1998. The engine and running gear has been rebuilt and upgraded. Much new hardware has been added. All the boat’s canvas is in like new condition and includes a special outside “show” canvas cover for cabin windows and transom with “Matriarch” name sewn in with white letters.The result of this meticulous maintenance and stewardship is a boat in better condition today than when she was first launched in September of 1957. She is an annual participant in the Mystic Seaport’s Classic and Antique Boat Rendezvous – most recently winning Best Under 40′ in 2002. Her owner is now looking for a good home that will continue with this level of care. She is out of the water for the winter season at Frank Hall Boat Yard in Westerly, Rhode Island and is available to be seen at your convenience.
