This 1972 30′ Iroquois MkII is hull number 149 of the legendary classic catamaran, which has enjoyed a cult like following. The Iroquois won the 1966 Around Great Britain Race and is built like a tank. Purchased by present owner in 1998, this boat has had many significant improvements made including a new coach roof core, crossbeam reinforcement, rebuilt centerboard trunk and rudders to name a few. Iroquois have a fantastic reputation as a sturdy, seaworthy cat. One example won the Round Britain race in 1966. With the small sailplan, she is easily one handed, and is simple to sail with two. Her kick up boards and rudders allow for easy gunkholing, but she can handle weather quite well. While the berths would never be considered roomy, they are more than adequate for weekending. A modest galley allows for meal preparation, and the roomy cockpit for entertaining, or just relaxing. The headroom in each hull is surprising, at 6?4?, and 4?6? in the main cabin. She is easily pushed with the 9.9 four stroke engine, and has quite a range on a small 3 gallon tank. These boats were overbuilt from new, and there is no evidence of osmosis anywhere. She is a very rigid craft, providing an excellent platform for either cruising or racing. Over 300 were built, and they still enjoy a strong following in Europe, especially England, where they were originally built. There is a helpful owners association that has provided significant information about them. This Iroquois will require some tinkering to get her back into original condition. She represents a great opportunity to acquire a strong mini-cruiser for the budget minded.
