PowerBoat Guide notes, “The Atlantic 44 is a traditional Jack Hargrave-designed long-range cruising yacht with one of the more attractive profiles in her class; this is not surprising, given that Hargrave also designed most of the classic Hatteras motor yachts. The US-built Atlantic 44 remained in production for over 15 years without major modification, a long and successful production run by any standard”. This model still retains her appeal to those who aren’t moved by today’s Euro-style boats with their futuristic curves and embellishments.

This particular example, kept for most of her life under cover in fresh water and owned for many years by the Mondavi wine family, is in beautiful condition and shows MUCH newer than her actual age (more like a late 1980s vessel than late 1970s). Two staterooms, galley up, expansive aft deck and flybridge (both fully enclosed), central reverse cycle heat/air, twin Ford Lehman 120s.

Full electronics (including Furuno radar and chartplotter), Sharp flat panel LCD TV with satellite receiver, built in Bose SurroundSound speakers also tied into Onkyo AM/FM/CD stereo system, a $10,000 system. Other recent additions include washer/dryer, updated galley (including newer top-of-the-line Norcold AC/DC full size refrigerator/freezer, new ice maker, new cabinetry), completely redone heads with Vacuflush toilets and striking dark blue tile, newer canvas and isinglass, new wool carpets throughout boat, new curtains, $2,400 custom mattress in forward stateroom, Inverter system with expanded capacity (heavy duty golf cart batteries, 1,000 total amp hours), machinery recently serviced (full maintenance records since new), brightwork professionally maintained.

Again, this is one of the nicest vessels of this vintage we’ve seen in quite some time, $40,000 (not including their own labor) spent on her over the 4 years.
