1978 MARINETTE Express, Boat Owner’s Notes. This1978 Marinette aluminum hulled Fisherman is great for fishing downriggers or trolling long lines single handed. Entering from a port side dock, one immediately notices a new “Seaboard” rear pilothouse enclosure with two locking center doors. Panels between the gunnels and cockpit have also been replaced with “Seaboard”. Across the aft safety rail is a downrigger board with three Cannon electric downriggers. A washdown is apparant in the rear starboard corner. The cockpit floor hatch opens to a cavernous storage space, steering mechanicals, and freshly packed rudder shaft. Across the transom is a full width aluminum swim platform with a three step folding ladder. In the Pilothouse are two pedestal seats. Batteries are accessible through floor hatch behind passenger seat. Center of pilothouse floor is a hatch for accessing the Chrysler 225 hp engine and transmission. The two front windows open for ventilation and both have electric wipers. Helm includes throttle and shift levers, depth, temperature, and speed readouts, fishfinder, GPS, backlit compass, autopilot, VHF, hailer, necessary gauges and switches. Enter the living quarters through the center door and down steps. The port side dinette makes into sleeping area for a couple with storage below. Forward from dinette are dresser drawers and hanging closet with magazine rack. Center forward is the V-berth with access door to anchor line reel. The door below the v-berth gives access to s.s. water tank, demand pump, and remote refrigeration unit for fridge. Below floorboard by v-berth are two bilge pumps, one manual other automatic. The starboard side galley is complete with microwave, stainless steel.sink, two-burner AC stove, refrigerator/freezer, storage cabinet and drawers. Next aft is the fully enclosed head with porta-potti, counter with sink and storage cabinet below counter. Medicine cabinet is hinged to allow access to electrical panel under helm. Lighting is 12v and some 110v. Three 110v plugs are available. The aluminum trailer is an Owens Slide-On tri-axle with guides, surge brakes, and spare tire and wheel. Maintenance: Trailer bearings cleaned and greased annually after launch. Bottom painted yearly where needed. Engine oil changed each fall and transmission fluid changed as needed. Curtains have been replaced as were the wiper blades. Steering cable replaced this year. Contact Tom @810-636-7213
