Sunspeed 27  Designed by Robert Tucker, 27′ +(3′ Bowsprit) x LWL.25′ x Beam10’6″ x Draft 3’3″ x 6.1 Tonne All GRP center cockpit Motorsailer with double berth in aft cabin – full (new) cockpit enclosure comfortable saloon, good galley with pressurised hot and cold water, the head compartment is also a  large wet room for showering and has a washbasin. Essentially the boat is 4 berth ie 2 in the aft cabin and 2 in the saloon although another sleeper could be accomodated athwartships in the cockpit with canopy raised.  The boat has new Eberspacher D2 heating, she has new upholstery and foam in the aft cabin and the saloon.   Subject to an extensive refit during last winter – the engine was removed – checked serviced polished and painted – all engine wiring and control panels switches and senders were renewed, a new calorifier was fitted as was the domestic water pump and a host of other “as necessary items of hardware”    On deck the boat is surrounded by a high teak rail with opening gates, there are dinghy davits a wind generator, an electric windlass and 20 fathoms of 3/8″ galvanised chain – the anchor self stows in the cheeks of the fairlead and is a CQR.  The Cannister Liferaft is included as are the usual warps,fenders etc.    The sails consist of a mainsail, the 1999 roller furling genoa and a cruising chute.  There are 2 electric bilge pumps and a manual pump operated in the cockpit.   Mechanically the 4 cylinder Thorneycroft diesel is rated at 35 HP – it is fresh water cooled through a heat exchanger and oil cooler, the gearbox is a PRM .The propeller is 3 bladed and a rope cutter is fitted–  Tankage is around 25 galls diesel and 40 gallons fresh water.   Instrumentation: Stowe speed and Stowe depth, there is a GPS and a DSC VHF, a steering compass a voltmeter, a fuel gauge, oil pressure and engine temperature plus a tachometer, There is an autopilot which apart from the inbuilt compass sensor has a wind vane sensor, there is shorepower and a Sterling charger. Also fitted is a small wind generator mounted at the stern.   .  A feature of this boat is her design and how she looks and feels – seeing her on a mooring for the first time you feel sure the owners have travelled or are about to travel a long way,  she looks as if she is a boat for adventure, the internal volume is out of all proportion to her length  indeed she would make a wonderful and welcoming country cottage kept far from home but always available or you could cruise far and wide in warmth and comfort – the new cockpit cover is removable in sections or in its entirety – rain no longer equalls misery .  The owner has transformed what was a good boat into something very special however his plans have changed and now the next owner will benefit from his expenditure and expertise. A recent survey exists which may be read by a prospective purchaser .  Ashore and undercover at Holy Loch Marina she is ready for inspection and could be readily relaunched.
