The New York Yacht Club 48 (Swan 47) is one of the best ever cruising/racing compromises from Nautor, featuring a stainless steel swinging centre-board, giving a cruising draft of 6 feet while being able to compete with the board down with the fixed keel boats.  BLACK TIE has succesfully combined family cruising with regatta sailing. In her current ownership she has been cruised for 2 or 3 weeks each year and competed in a few races in which she has done well. BLACK TIE came 5th in a large and competitive class in the 2006 Swan Cup in Sardinia and has achieved a 2nd and 3rd in class in the Round the Island race.  Most recently she came second at the Swan Rendevous in Elba in 2009 crewed for some of the event by just two. Her present owner is a long time S & S Swan enthusiast (this is his 3rd) and has been committed to maintaining the boat in its original form as designed and built. He has just bought his 4th!
