Designed and constructed in 1985 by E.S.Barens in Durban, South Africa, this long distance cruiser sailed in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, and Carribean and Mediterranean seas. She is a 45ft Cutter-rigged sloop of GRP sandwich construction and keel-stepped mast, with long keel and centre cockpit, and featuring the following: Perkins 4236 diesel engine, 75HP, Borg-Warner hydraulic transmission. Roller furling genoa, slab reefed main sail with lazy-jacks and zip-up stackpack. Electric windlass with 70m anchor chain. 2 CQR anchors + 1 Danforth spare. Fixed mounted 4HP diesel generator for 220V, 50Hz. Five two-speed self-tailing winches in cockpit + 2 on mast. Granny bars at mast. 8-man liferaft, EPIRB, inflatable dinghy with new outboard 2.5HP 4stroke engine. Aft mounted derricks. Wardrobe of 7 sails, including gennaker and storm sails. 2x60W solar panels. Electric auto-pilot. Rigid spray dodger with canvas top. Bimini over cockpit. Cockpit mounted wind/depth/speed instruments. Raymarine radar system, Fix mounted GPS + handheld GPS, SSB marine worldwide transceiver, VHF marine transceiver. Two 12V battery banks, each 2x105Ah capacity. Fore and aft cabins, each with en-suite heads with shower, and spacious saloon mid-ships. Galley complete with all utensils, eutectic plate refrigeration, microwave oven, gimballed gas stove/oven, Valiant gas geyser, pressurised hot/cold water (also in heads). Approx. 1000 litre fresh water capacity in 3 tanks. 800 litre diesel fuel in 2 tanks. Extensive storage space for provisions.. The yacht has a log book of long distance passage making, originating in Durban, S. Africa, and presently berthed in Brighton. The standing rigging was replaced in 2005, and she is in a well-maintained condition. She has carried my wife and I safely through all kinds of weather, and now that we are retiring from ocean sailing, would like to see her taken over by a capable owner.
