The Sol Y Viento is a rare find in todays market. The reputation of the Hans Christian yachts precedes it with the pride of ownership that has been the benchmark of these fine world cruising yachts. The Christina Series was brought into existance when the company founder gave designer Scott Sprage the go ahed to draw the preliminary lines in circa 1983. Scott spent time working with various ideas untill the general prinicple was reached. The goal was a world ocean class cutter that would resist healing, have a better turn of speed and weatherly performance, carru a large sail plan with a inboard cutter with transom stern to increase the after beam and interior room, be able to make a three double cabin layout, or to be able to add a second head and shower with opening storage locker in the cockpit to gain more room for storage. The goals continued with a harder turn of the bilge, some flattening of the underbody from the bilge turn to the keel which is internal balasted, The rudder which is a 3/4 skeg with a underbalance of the rudder which for safety sake can break away the underhang and still retain steerage, but mainly give the boat  a 9 % balance to produce a much lighter helm than the full keel or full skeg hung rudder. The ability to carry nerly 1000 sq. ft. of sail area on an inboard cutter allows a great deal of combinations of the sail plan depending on the wind conditions and changes de jour. Another feature of the Christina series was the tropic model which Sol Y Viento is a member. Based on public demand, we eliminated the teak weather decks and cabin inserts, along with the sheer teak at the wale pland. This related at the inseption as a maintainance eliminating factor, but has If you take a yacht such as Sol Y Viento that has seen most all conditions that exist on the Pacific, add a caring owner who has loved and cared for the boat while constantly making improvements to her, you then have the combination that all buyers are looking for.  The value cannot be placed on this yacht simply on what does it have on it, or what did others sell for. It’s value is in the details of care and feeding and extensive yacht husbandry. The instalation of the Volco TMD30A single diesel is also a major consideration. This give this yacht an ability to run at low, economical RPM’s in the 6 knot range with fuel burn factor in the 1/2 gal. per hour, or take her up to 8. 5 knots in the 2800 RPM range for a quicker move from moving in weather.    This yacht is for sale by an owner who would like to try the life of a power trawler, but will not be interested, and is not motivated by the need to sell or to accept a low offer. Keeping that in mind, those of you who are looking foa a near perfect cruising sailboat, at a very low price should not consider Sol Y Viento. She is ment for the yachtsman who appreciates performance and beauty. I will be happy to go over the details of this yacht further, along with setting up a showing appointment. We will need several days to arrange a showing. .
