Water World is a 1987 Irwin 52 that was one of the few that was originally built for the charter business. They differed from other Irwin 52 Mark ll’s in a number of ways. First, they had a solid keel rather than a centerboard; second, the mast was ICW friendly at 64’, thirdly, the aft stateroom was two smaller cabins each with their own head and open hatch and finally there was an extra water tank under the v berth.   Water World has been converted to a large aft stateroom with island queen with a head to starboard and a workshop to port.   As you can see by the listing, Water World has been going thru a refit for the past 2 years. The refit began with the engine room, a total inspection of the Perkins 4-236 diesel engine, the addition of a 8.1 Mase generator with sound shield and rewiring with new batteries.   The next phase of the refit called for hauling the boat at which time the hull was painted, bottom inspected and faired, and bow thruster installed. The masts and booms were removed for inspection and painting and the mast step was replaced. The rig was inspected and the standing rigging was replaced as needed. New sails were built for the boat by Doyle, along with Stack Packs for the main and missen. All the deck hatches were replaced by Lewmar Ocean hatches and the ports were cleaned and repainted. The deck was painted with non-skid as well. A new dodger and Bimini were added as well.   In the cockpit, a nav pod was installed along with Garmin chart plotter and radar, and Raymarines ST60+ instruments. There are new cockpit cushions as well.   Down below, the V-berth and guest cabin and head have been completed. This includes new paneling, lighting, cushions and headliner. The head has a new vacu?flush system and shower stall to go along with the vanity and cabinetry. The main salon has newly upholstered seating, headliner, and lighting. The galley remains original as does the nav station and electric panel. The owner’s stateroom has been made from 2 smaller cabins converted into one large one at some point in the past.   The boat is presently offered at $179,000. The owner, who has done a fantastic refit on the boat, has just added a new family member, thus he decided to put the boat on the market. There are a number of options possible as listed here:   1) A buyer can purchase the boat and finish the boat off himself. 2) A buyer can leave the boat in the present slip, which is in the back of the owner’s condo and have the owner continue the refit to the new buyers spec’s while renting a condo and / or slip from the owner.   3) A buyer can work along with the owner in finishing the refit project.   There are other possible options depending on the Buyer’s wishes.  The boat, even as a work in progress can be ready to sail away with a month’s preparation for someone who may want to do his or her own work in the Caribbean for instance.
