Why Knot is a wonderful example of an American built trawler that can trace her roots back to the commercial fisherman and shrimpers that were built in Titusville, Florida. She was one of over 100 trawlers built on an extremely salty hull that is very forgiving and extremely easy to handle by two people. Each of the Thompson/Nelson trawlers have their own unique characteristics, but all provide a very stable platform for cruising either the Loop (bridge clearance of 18’6) or exploring the out islands of the Bahamas (draft 3’0). She is a very solidly built heavy fiberglass yacht with a displacement of 17 tons. Her single naturally aspirated CAT diesel is a work horse and very economical to run. At 7 knots, with her 750 gallons of fuel she has over a 2000 mile range. Extremely economical for cruising. Her owners have loved her and cruised her for the past ten years and are now ready for a different adventure. They have completed the Loop, cruised the East Coast and Bahamas and have logged over 20,000 miles during this time.
