Google 1998 Bristol GAFF RIGGED KETCH

Year: 1998
Manufacturer: The Little Ship Company
Price: £130,000

Moya is a custom designed, steel gaff rigged ketch, inspired by the Bristol Pilot Cutter type and based on the 1937 lines of “Prospector”, a design by Bill Harris. Moya was designed by Ernst Van der Laan and built by MOF Boat Builders, Cape Town, South Africa and she was launched in September 1997.The owner of the yard built Moya for himself, originally with the idea of carrying cargo under sail, although a change of plan meant the hold became a saloon before she left South Africa, as a cruising ketch. In 1998 she crossed the South Atlantic to Brazil, cruised the Caribbean and sailed as far north as Chesapeake Bay before returning to the Caribbean. At that point she changed hands and has been cruised by the present owners for the last 7 years up and down the Caribbean Island chain and taking part in classic regattas whenever possible. Moya is a vessel in her own class; she is not a shiny white yacht.she is strong, practical, beautiful and proven sailing vessel and she turns heads wherever she goes. She was set up to be a world girdling “live-aboard” cruiser for 2 but is equally at home with a crew of 4/6, or with some minor alterations in the saloon, she could carry up to 10 passengers and crew. She is reliable, dry and seaworthy and is rigged to be sailed by 1 or 2 people although she can also make use of a racing crew of 12 when the occasion demands. She also sails well and is a good passage maker with her best 24 hour run to date just short of 200 miles.Moya is a heavily constructed, powerful and beautiful vessel capable of fulfilling many roles. She was initially carefully constructed, for personal use and has the capability to go anywhere with confidence and her systems have been constantly updated and maintained. She is a comfortable and fast passage maker and attracts compliments wherever she goes…and down below she is absolutely gorgeous…. done out in  African woods…just gorgeous!
She is presently beig readied for a trip up to Antigua for Classic Week.
before she leaves Grenada she will have her decks repainted and the minor surface rust issues in her bilge and on deck dealt with.
