Poco a Poco defines the classic Nordhavn 46 that has become a true modern day trawler legend. She is offered for sale by her original owner who has had a magnificent 12 year cruising life aboard and is now getting on in years where he can’t take off on longer trips as easily and has decided it would be best to sell the boat and let someone else enjoy new adventures. PAE/Nordhavn took a chance with a bold new 46’ design in 1988 and introduced a production model long range trawler that revolutionized the way ALL cruisers (sail and power) view passage making. The 46 design opened up EVERY horizon to adventurers and is still one of the most popular full displacement power yachts ever built. Poco a Poco (little by little) is hull 59 in the series (out of 82) so she is a late model offering that was built during the peak hey day of construction at the crest of demand. She is the “coastal” layout design – Plan B – with master stateroom forward – accessed from the galley level via a step down hallway and guest stateroom with double berth to port. There are two heads with showers so each stateroom has quite privacy. The interior boasts a beautiful teak wood finish with a touch of white laminate in the guest stateroom. Poco a Poco was delivered to Long Beach, CA in August of 1998 and outfitted in Dana Point, CA. The day after Christmas in 1998 she departed for Mexico taking a leisurely cruise down the west coast with several lengthy stops on the way to Panama. From Panama she travelled to Isla Mujeres and then on to Brownsville, Texas where she has gone up and down the east coast up to Maine with no major problems ever encountered as she has shouldered heavy seas and high winds as expected. Her paravane stabilizers have kept her comfortable both underway and at anchor in rolling seas. In January of 2003 three air conditioning units were installed in Seabrook, Texas. In September of 2009 she was stored indoors at Maine Yacht Center and refitted with a new four blade propeller and a line cutter. At that time here current (new) Achilles RIB inflatable was also purchased. There is certain awareness in the cruising community that the Nordhavn 46 might have the prettiest lines of any trawler afloat. Her performance pedigree is unquestioned with a half dozen circumnavigations and significant ocean crossings literally all over the world.
