This trimaran is funky by design. She is a nimble, speedy, shallow draft, durable, versatile platform for exploring protected coastal waters, inland lakes, and the rivers and inland waterways of the world. Her builder desired a “River Boat” which he intended to sail across the United States using the Columbia and Missouri rivers with stints on the Great Lakes, the Eerie Canal, and then the ICW. The builder (who had built 4 vessels previously) worked in close collaboration with John Marples to design Liberty. She is powered by a 20 hp Yanmar two cylinder diesel with only 500 hours, has a tabernacling wishbone mast, and she demounts for trailering (using any suitable flatbed trailer). Liberty’s hulls were constructed using Marples/Brown/Newick’s Constant Camber method. She was vacuum bagged using Luan Mahogany and epoxy resin. She displaces only 3,500 pounds and is made for rugged use with a mini-keel (fitted with a stainless steel shoe and kick-up rudder) rather than daggerboards enabling her to take the bottom and absorb impacts in her intended riverine environment. This is an excellent little cruiser in need of little or no refit and priced to get you on the water in pursuit of your dreams.
