Flying Lady is a very customized Hylas 54 with two equal master staterooms and an additional guest cabin.  The optional 6’3″ shoal draft custom keel centerboard arrangement allows access to more harbors without loss of stability or performance. Flying Lady has a very comprehensive inventory of builder options that include: electric winches, electric furling mainmast, generator, reverse cycle three zone air conditioning, bow thruster, Vacuflush heads, dishwasher, inverter, microwave and trash compactor. Her sail handling arrangement is well suited for single or shorthanded sailing.  The Hylas 54, designed by highly regarded German Frers, is proven and recognized as one of the premier designs in the 50′ to 60′ class. It is often said that the difference is in the details and Queen Long, Hylas’s exclusive builder, has the experience and talented craftsmen to build the best.  The matched grain, varnished teak interior woodwork is comparable to the finest custom yachts. The extra strong fiberglass hull is reinforced with Twaron (used in bullet proof vests). On deck there is a large cockpit, wide molded nonskid (no teak to maintain) side decks, and a low profile trunk cabin with multiple stainless opening ports and fixed windows. The transom has wide built-in steps to the swim platlform with drop down swim ladder. To minimize maintenance, particularly in southern waters, the fiberglass deck has a molded nonskid pattern. A varnished teak toerail accentuates Flying Lady’s classic exterior profile.  Deck storage includes large foredeck sail locker and divided chain locker, two aft deck lockers and transom garage.  Because Flying Lady has been sailed locally by both owners (the only exception a Miami-Shelter Is., NY delivery with the owner on board), machinery hours are low and sails are in good condition.
