The Pulsecraft has evolved into an impressive and versatile boat. With plenty of forward space for cargo and a handy drop gate for loading and off loading, this boat becomes your SUV of boats.???Boat building in aluminum is a skilled craft and learning to do it right to develop the eye-hand coordination, to master gas metal arc processes required for joining aluminum, to lay down a weld that equals or exceeds the strength of the plate, takes time. In the hands of our expert craftsmen, working in a climate-controlled shop using high-tech pulse welders, this is easily achieved. A proper weld in aluminum is at least as strong as the metal it joins, so an aluminum boat, including frames, stringers, gussets, bulkheads, and deck becomes essentially a one-piece structure. Welds comprise only about 3% of the structure. The other 97% is plating. We plan our hulls using computer-aided design (CAD) programs that provide extraordinary flexibility not only in the conception of the hull, but also in the execution. We then download the design specifications into a computer that runs our “Vicon” high precision cutting table. Whatever the size or style of the boat, the computer scales the necessary elements. The hull material for all our boats is a full 3/16″ or 1/4″, at least twice the gauge of the heaviest aluminum used in riveted hulls. The benefits of using 5083-series alloy are, better welding characteristics, good forming properties, excellent resistance to corrosion and greater design efficiency. Except for cosmetic purposes, 5000 series alloys do not even have to be painted. Above the waterline, the unpainted surface reacts with air to form aluminum oxide, a hard, protective coating that protects the underlying surface. Aluminum plate does not leak, does not soak up water, does not delaminate, and does not deform under heat in normal service. Aluminum combines light weight, high strength, easy workability and acceptable cost in one package. Aluminum is non-flammable and non-combustible. Light-weight and low maintenance.
