After 30 years of sailing his little yacht, the family have finally persuaded this intrepid pensioner to come ashore. His exploits have proved the capability of this vintage yacht but it is now someone else’s turn to enjoy her. Her origins are unknown, even her age is just passed on from one owner to the next. 23’6″ x 6′ x 3’4″ Planked in pine all copper fastened to steamed oak timbers on an oak back-bone. In 1999 she was treated to a refit with Isle of Wight Boat builders when a double skin of mahogany was laminated over the original, prepared hull planking to give a very strong hull skin which rings like a drum and keeps her totally water-tight. External iron ballast keel, interesting bulbous section. Galvanised strap floors. Sheathed ply deck. Varnished mahogany coach-roof and cock-pit coamings. Pair of bronze port holes each side, sheathed roof. Full width sliding hatch on the coamings. Washboards to the cabin entrance. Fold up mahogany seats each side in the cock-pit. Fractional sloop rig on varnished mast, stepped through the deck onto the keel. Single ash spreaders. Stainless steel rigging with crimped terminals, stainless steel rigging screws to internal stainless steel chain plates. Standing back-stay, single fore stay to galvanised twin chain roller stemhead fitting. Stainless steel boom goose neck fitting on the mast. Mainsail and Jib. Launching and winter storage trolley. This is great fun for little outlay. A great little yacht, well proven, ideal for week-ending and almost certainly more capable than you!
