Charles Sibbick of Cowes was one of the great designers and builders at the end of the 19th century, especially known for fast sailing yachts and this one is no exception, a rare survivor from that period and after a major rebuild now again up to her original strength and capability. 39′ x 31’wl x 8’9″ x 6′ + 11′ bowsprit. She has survived almost certainly due to the use of greenheart for her planking, an almost indestructible wood. In the refit her frames were all replaced with the stem and stern post. The deck was replaced in marine ply, epoxy/glass sheathed to replicate the canvassed pine deck she would originally have carried. Varnished teak coach-roof and cock-pit. Lead keel with new bolts. New cast bronze strap floors and hanging knees Gaff cutter rig on a 41′ varnished mast built by Collars in 1996 with bronze mast fittings, slab reefing boom, new sails in 1996. Super Dragonfly blocks to keep her very authentic. 1995 Lombardini 13hp diesel is all she needs to drive her when there is no wind. 5 berths, full head-room. Separate heads. Cabin heating. This is gorgeous, a beautiful and authentic restoration and has proved to be as fast as Charles Sibbick’s other yachts while being very manageable though not for the faint-hearted! She retains the simplicity of the original yacht with no complicated systems but the usual modern sailing aids and equipment.
