Price reduced for a quick sale as owners have found a larger boat they wish to purchase. 1907 five berth Skutsje Yacht is flat bottomed and ideal for coastal water sailing. She is a 15m x 3.4m, gaff rigged Dutch sailing barge converted from a dairy cargo vessel in 1934. Counterweight mast makes raising and lowering simply easy. Lying in North Kent the current owners have conducted a comprehensive refurbishment during six years’ ownership: Riveted Dutch iron hull – topsides repainted 2006 and 2008. Douglas Fir mast and spas stripped and varnished 2006. Oak leeboards stripped and varnished/repainted 2006. Oak rudder and tiller stripped and varnished 2007. Steel superstructure stripped and repainted 2007. 50mm teak deck laid over steel refurbished 2008. Teak hatch covers stripped and varnished 2009. Large teak lined stern cockpit refurbished 2009. Teak gunnel stripped and varnished 2008. Partial refit 2004/2005 – very comfortable interior. Rewired and plumbed 2005. 12v lighting and 240v ring fitted 2005. Victron phoenix 30 amp charger. Waterford solid fuel stove with back boiler, CH and pressurised water system fitted 2005. Jabsco compact manual sea toilet (2008). 4 burner gas hob (2009). Specifications LOA 17m. LWL 15m. Beam 3.4m. Draft 0.5m. Air Draft 2.1m. Displacement 24T. Headroom – Standing headroom in saloon and under roof lights. Limited to 1m in cabin, 1.3m in saloon and galley, 1.8m in companionway and roof lights. Sails and engine maintained in Full Working Order. Engine 80hp BMC Commodore 4 cylinder, keel cooled engine (1972 approx). Cruising speed 4 knots, max speed 6 knots. Fuel tank 20 – 30 gallons approx (4’x1’x2’ steel). One engine battery, two domestic (new 2006). Three blade bronze prop. Sails Sails – all white Dracon (Gaastra) 132m2 total area, reasonable condition. Mainsail – age unknown. Jib – 1999 with two covers (long and ball). Storm Jib – age unknown. Water sail – age unknown. Two bronze sheet winches aft cabin roof. Halyard winch port side of mast. Running rigging – All stainless steel, good condition. Standing rigging – stainless steel 7 x 16, good condition. Two manual leeboard winches mounted on bulkhead in cockpit. Deck gear Manual anchor winch. Main anchor –Thames Pattern. Chain – 85m stud link. Accommodation 1 cabin, comfortable for two. Berths up to 5 for holidays/sleepovers. DETAILED INFORMATION The hull was sand blasted in 2002 and epoxy and two pack International Paint coating applied. Photographs of the bare hull showed very few pits. She was last slipped in 2003. Sails comprise white Dracon main, jip (1999), storm jip and water sail and are in reasonable condition (sail area 132m2). The barge sails very well, being light on the helm (tiller:rudder ratio = 1:1). The horse is situated in the stern cockpit behind the engine box. The 80hp 4 cylinder 1972 BMC Commodore engine starts first time and its cover (teak faced ply with solid teak top) provides a table/navigation surface. It is keel cooled (closed system – pipes along hull). The propeller is three blade bronze. The brass instrument panel was fitted in 2006 and comprises log, oil pressure etc. The exhaust was partially replaced in 2008.
