The fleet of boats dredging oysters under sail only in the River Fal, Cornwall are well documented. This is one of the original boats, built in St Ives in 1911 for pilchard fishing. She has worked in the Fal and has been in present ownership for 20 years proving to be one of the fastest in the regualar and exciting fleet races. 26’9″ x 10′ x 4’6″ + 12′ bowsprit. She has the distinctive lines of the West Country boats although they are all slightly different depending on where built. Planked in pitch-pine on heavy oak frames. The long keel is fitted with a heavy shoe and she carries 1 1/2 ton lead ballast inside. The cock-pit coaming is in varnished iroko and she has a little cuddy forward under the fore deck. Gaff cutter rig on pole mast with varnished slab reef boom and modern alloy gaff. 2 mainsails, topsails and lots of headsails, some almost new. Like so many of these boats she has been extensively rebuilt in prpesent long ownership to keep her in top racing condition. It is seldom that these sought-after boats come onto the market. They can be exciting to sail if driven hard, unimpeded by engine weight and drag and make excellent week-end cruising yachts with plenty of space to sleep on the wide cock-pit sole boards under a boom tent in the summer.
