70′ Baltic Trader, built in Sweden in 1914. Typical massive construction in pine planking on oak frames. Hardwood deck. Gaff ketch rig on keel-stepped pine masts. Galvanised rigging wire. Block and tackle rigging. Full suit of sails comprising new mainsail, mizzen, staysail, inner jib, outer jib all by Patrick Selman, Falmouth in 2000 in Clipper Canvas. Older main topsail, mizzen topsail, flying jib and trysail in Duradon. BMC Sealord 96hp 6-cyl diesel engine, first installation in 1973, out and totally rebuilt 2006/7. Walk-in engine room. Borg Warner Velvet Drive single lever controls hydraulic gear-box. New 2006 centre-line shaft and prop.gives her 6.5knts at 7lph. 2 x 1000 litre fuel tanks + 1200 day tank – all in the engine room. 4 x 180 amp/hr batteries on 24v circuits. Dedicated 12v engine start batteries. 2.5 Kva inverter drives everything except an elctric kettle. 14 berths comprising owner/skipper aft cabin with 3 berths; 3 x twin berth cabins 1 x double berth cabin 3 x single berths Comfortable saloon cabin with seating for 14 around a large table. Galley on deck with commercial gas cooker, ample storage and work surface. Heads compartment with electric sea toilet. Shower compartment. H&C with large calorifier tank provides enough hot water for all the crew to shower. Work bench and chains in the fore peak. Full head-room all through. The vessel is fitted out for 15 persons to MCA Cat 2 for charter. Equipment includes radar, GPS, VHF, electric windlass, full Code safety equipment, full domestic equipment. Built in Sweden in 1914 she worked carrying cargo around the Baltic and it is believed down to France. Her first engine was installed in 1922. She was sold out of trade into private ownership with a Danish family in 1964 and converted for pleasure use. A fire in 1984 resulted in some major rebuilding to the great benefit of the vessel and the present internal GA dates from this rebuild. She passed into UK ownership in 2004 and has operated as a family-run charter vessel offering holidays afloat and sail training.
