PENOBSCOT

PENOBSCOT is one of the famous R-Class racing sloops built to the universal rule developed by Nat Herreshoff. They were widely raced in New England, on the Great Lakes, and in California. Charles Mower, who designed PENOBSCOT, was one of the highly regarded designers for the class. PENOBSCOT was built by Hodgdon Brothers of Boothbay, Maine, well known for the quality of their work. From 1986 to 1988, PENOBSCOT enjoyed an extensive rebuild/restoration, including much structural and cosmetic work, as well as the installation of a new Yanmar diesel engine. We recommend PENOBSCOT as a fast, exciting, classic daysailer or as a pocket cruiser. She would also be a wonderful boat to campaign in the flourishing circuit of classic yacht regattas. She is a thoroughbred with a good pedigree. PENOBSCOT’s present owner has carefully maintained her with much love and attention to detail. A copy of a recent survey is available to serious parties.
