Wm Blake worked on the East Coast and produced some fine yacht designs, many built by Robertsons of Woodbridge. This was the pre-war period of the study of hull balance, notably by people like Harrison Butler and Albert Strange and this yacht is a Metecentre design which in layman’s terms means she is very nicely balanced and will not haul up to windward in a gust and will not pull your arms out of their sockets just to hold your course. She is planked in pitch-pine, probably full length. She has a relatively large cock-pit so plenty space to move around. The cabin top has been extended out to the deck edge in Maurice Griffiths style which makes for lots more space in the cabin and comfortable sitting head-room on the settees. The limited draft is practical in shallow waters yet she will still turn to windward remarkably well. She had a big refit in the late ’60s when amongst other things the bowsprit was added converting her into a cutter and further refitting in the last 20 years of present ownership to keep her up to the mark. This is a very distinctive and well balanced little cruising yacht and is presented in smart, clean condition.
