Solveig Class sloop This is one of 5 Solveigs built by Georges Duer in 1961 at his yard at Versoix on Lac Leman, Switzerland. The yard is still active run by son Philippe, a highly successful Swiss yacht race skipper. Maurice Amiet had several designs built by Swiss yards. The class was designed by Frenchman Maurice Amiet and the first yacht of, we believe, 15 yachts to the class was built by Felix Silvestrio in Nice in 1956. The design owes much to the Swedish Tumlar with some indications of a Folkboat influence. They raced in RORC Class C. Sarilla spent some years in Italy before being imported to Ipswich in 1982 to race on the East Coast. In present ownership since 1990, she has been steadily improved and brought up to her current very smart condition. In 1990 the hull was stripped to bare wood and varnished. New instruments and WC fitted.
