Hinks was a traditional old family yard and built many fishing boats and a number of yachts.   A robustly built yacht, planked in 1 ¼” larch all copper fastened with nails and roves to heavy, close-spaced steamed oak timbers on an oak back-bone. Heavy oak floors. Approx 3 ton long external iron ballast keel with galvanised mild steel keel bolts. Some internal iron ballast midships. Varnished rubbing strake around the topsides with 3 portholes each side. Shallow bilge keels each side.   Spacious, clear deck laid in painted ply with a heavy king plank. Varnished iroko rubbing strake and toe rail. Heavy Sampson post on the fore deck, small manual windlass.  Double stemhead chain rollers. Fore hatch with modern Lewmar alloy top. Massive galvanised steel mast tabernacle carries 2 modern top-action halyard winches both at waist height for easy use. Midships varnished mahogany sky-light. Coach-roof with painted timber coamings with oblong windows and a varnished mahogany dog-house aft over the fwd part of the cock-pit. The aft cock-pit extends back almost to the transom with a short aft deck and transom-hung rudder.   The cock-pit is deep and well sheltered with a canvas cover on s/s hoops over the open part. Stainless steel stanchions and guard wires. Wheel steering with traditional spoked wheel on the fwd bulkhead to port, on chains and cables to a short tiller on the rudderhead. Varnished capping round the cock-pit, sampson posts in each aft corner. Painted ply seat lockers each side with the gas bottles in the port locker and the batteries in the stbd locker. stbd varnished double doors to the cabin.
