The Bermuda 40 has been in production longer than any other fiberglass boat and was the first fiberglass boat built by Henry R. Hinckley & Company of Southwest Harbor, Maine. The B-40 owes its timeless appeal to Henry Hinckley’s unstinting devotion to superior craftsmanship. Since its first introduction in 1959, over a production period of 32 years, 203 of this venerable classic yachts have been built. Known as a practical, able, seaworthy yacht fit for the rigors ocean voyaging, the Bermuda 40 was inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1995.  “Invictus” is one of the first Mk II models built. (The Mk II model had the mast height increased 2’ to an air draft of 49’ that provided an additional 20 sq ft of sail area for an increased sail area of 745 sq ft.) The yacht has been lightly used primarily for day sailing on San Francisco Bay. The centerboard operation is managed by a worm screw mechanism which makes it virtually bulletproof to operate and maintain. Since taking ownership, the yacht has had many upgrades that include new sails, all new canvas, dodger, new winches, hydraulic backstay adjuster, batteries, electrical system rewiring and alternator. The yacht has been diligently maintained and the brightwork is immaculate. The bottom has been painted, prop and engine serviced March 2010.
