Albin Vega 27 1971Construction and lavout: GRP hull and topsides. Four berth in two cabins – settee berths to port and starboard in main saloon followed by v-berths and toilet (Jabsco) forward of the main bulkhead. The galley with 2 burner gas stove is to port and to starboard is a sink and coolbox (with infill lids over to convert to nav area). Throughout the accommodation are numerous lockers and cubby holes providing excellent storage. Below the waterline has been Gelshielded and the topsides were repainted in 2005. Deck areas have recently been refinished with antislip paint. Laminated tiller / (with extension) new 2005 fresh water tank 14 galls.Rig: Mast head with single spreaders Aluminium mast and boom stainless steel standing rigging replaced 2007, running rigging replaced 2006. From the drawing board of Swedish designer Per Brohall the Albin Vega has earned a reputation as a robust no nonsense offshore cruising yacht ideal for extended family cruising or just weekend pottering. Gretchen is an excellent example of the class and her condition reflects benefiting from a regular maintenance program and upgrading as necessary. Recent upgrades include substantial strengthening in way of the mast step (photo record available) and replacement of saloon windows. Gretchen is a very seaworthy vessel (regularly cruised throughout the Bristol Channel.  Having the benefit of a long keel (which makes for a very comfortable motion in a seaway) coupled with beaching legs enables her to dry out safely when visiting picturesque tidal harbours. Recently antifouled and ready to sail away.
