“Boomerang” was designed by Scott Kaufman and R E Derecktor and built at the Derecktor Yard in Mamaroneck in 1978. She came 2nd in the infamous Fastnet Race in 1979. She is heavily built in aluminum. She was audio gaged in late 2005 and found to be in excellent condition. Her interior was designed by Mauricio Cabal and installed under the watchful eye of Derecktor -Gunnell. The hull was recently Awlgripped (03/07) in a light gray that is quite striking. The bottom was also done at this time. The engines were brought up to standard with her present owner. She has just crossed the Atlantic and is here in Ft Lauderdale until sold. Boomerang went across the Atlantic again in the spring of 2009, cruised the Med and then was hauled in Faro Portugal for the summer. She underwent more upgrading with new headsails, bottom painting and some new electronics. She was launched again in the fall of 2009 sailed back across the Atlantic to Trinidad where she was again put on the hard. Back in the water she went in April of 2011 and is presently in Antigua on the hard at Jolly Harbor. The owner has upgraded the boat continuously since he bought her and has enjoyed years of cruising on both sides of the Atlantic.
