Sabre MK I Boats Review and Specs
Year: 1982Manufacturer: Crusader Yacht Sales
Price: US$38,500
During the 1970s and 1980s Sabre carved a niche in the market by consistently producing handsome, high-quality boats that were nicely finished below and sailed well in a variety of conditions. This was the heyday of dual-purpose boats and Sabre competed with Tartan, C&C and other quality production builders. In 1976, Sabre expanded its line with the introduction of the 34. Roger Hewson designed the Sabre 34 with classic lines, pinched ends and a reverse transom, which is why this is a vessel that will never go out of style. The skeg hung rudder and offset prop add to ease of handling whether under power or sail. Below decks and handcrafted in the finest Maine tradition you find the quality craftsmanship only found in a Sabre. The fit and finish reflect the renowned Sabre attention to detail, with hand crafted oiled teak bulkheads, doors and drawers, caned locker door fronts and a teak and holly cabin sole. If you want a classic looking cruising boat that also sails with ambition, the Sabre 34 is it and Dorset is a very nice example. She is certainly worthy of your inspection!
