This is not an ordinary sailboat and Vince was not an ordinary man. Mr Lazzara was one of the pioneers of fiberglass boat building. He started back in the 1950’s and built the first fiberglass boat over 40′, the Rhodes Bounty 41. Vince sold his successful company to Grumman Manufacture, who started Pearson Yachts. Vince, then created another successful company called Columbia Yachts, which he sold in 1967. Being a dynamic designer, innovator and entrepreneur, he started Gulfstar Yachts in 1970, which built sailing and motor yachts from 36′ to 80′. Vince Lazzara’s legacy is continued today by his two sons at Lazzara Yachts in Tampa, Florida, which is considered one of the world’s premier mega-yacht builders.
