This vessel is a 12.6m cutter rigged sloop marketed as an ‘Albin Nimbus 42’ in Europe and as a ‘Kaufmann 42’ in the USA. She was built in 1983 of GRP.  Her naval design was commissioned by Albin Marine (Sweden) and done by Scott Kaufmann (Miniapolis). We still have the orginal (A1 sized) specification drawings  Scott was the original designer of the Swan range (by Nautor Finland) when he worked for Sparkman & Stevens hence the similarity to Swans of that era.  Her hull and deck were constructed in the Ka Shing yard in Taiwan and she was fitted out in the USA.   She has undergone 3 x major refits under our ownership and is in better condition now (with top class gear, fittings, and sails) than she was when original.   Her internal layout is slightly different from the original Her engine has been changed and moved forward and now sits under the companionway stairs. This move enabled the 2 smaller aft cabins to be made into a single large double berth. The new location of the engine also brought this weight forward and centre and she sails better as a result.
