ANAHATA is a 1987 Hans Christian 38 Traditional “telstar” performance underbody cutter rig sailboat.The “Telstar” version of the HC-38T was introduced in late 1984 and is a marked improvement from a performance standpoint to the earlier versions of this model.The underbody was re-engineered to allow for a cutaway of the after section of the keel and a skeg hung rudder was designed to allow quicker tacking and to reduce underbody buoyancy. This change created a faster tacking ability based on the rerouting of the laminar flow water around the keel and further produced a faster and stiffer yacht.The lead of the mast was advanced 12 inches from the older versions and virtually eliminated the weather helm that was pervasive before this correction. There is little that needs to be said for the Hans Christian quality. With nearly 900 various models of these high quality yachts cruising the world in every condition conceivable, they stand alone in their place in the true blue water cruising market. There were about 127 yachts built, and about 35 of these were the “Telstar” version. The magnificent joiner-work combines high quality Burma teak joinerwork of the higest possible quality, beige marble, bronze accoutrements and oval ports, and much more. The aura of this yacht in an artful blend of craftsmanship that is from a by-gone era.
