J/24 sailboat, race ready, superb USA4398 Wharf Rat was manufactured in 1987. It’s a very fast boat that has been completely race-prepped. Although it was a nice boat beforehand and had already been carefully gone over, it underwent a complete stem-to-stern refit at Karl’s Boat Shop in September 2009 and then was further tweaked at Custom Offshore Performance in April 2011. It has been dry-sailed almost all of the time, but a polished hard Baltoplate finish was added in 2009 to allow occasional wet-sailing, and, if nothing else, better growth-retarding performance over the course of multi-day regattas.  This is a serious racing J/24. It was raced competitively in Annapolis in the late ’90s and has been to Key West, with some great finishes (in its former life, its name was War Party). Everything is faired and at the maximum or minimum that is permitted under the class rules. It has an epoxy barrier coat underneath the Baltoplate. There are many, many little upgrades; an attempt has been made to describe the major ones on this site. Nothing is missing, and everything is carefully chosen, tweaked right and works well. Winches, cleats, etc, are in the locations they would be on a new J/24. The keel has been moved forward and it has been narrowed/faired right up to class limits. The boat comes with all the appropriate race gear, and spare parts. From most vantage points, it looks like a new boat. The boat has valid class measurement certificate. After all the class-required gear is added on, they still had to add 47kg of corrector weights. The hull is at minimum weight. The boat also has a current PHRF-MA certificate, registered as a J24 ODR, which in our area is 171. Boat is at Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ, on its trailer ready to go.
