The solid fibreglass hull is heavily reinforced and will protect you whatever may happen or wherever you may want to go. This is a boat for sailing! The keel stepped rig, fit with inner forestay, head stay and in-boom furlers, all controlled from a deep cockpit set well aft, make sailing in any conditions not only safe, but dry, which equals fun! Great ventilation through dorades, hatches and portlights which all open and also dog securely shut plus a plush interior with well found seaberths for four WITHOUT hot bunking combine to provide comfort un-parallel on many offshore sailing boats this size. Bon Accord has been owned by the same owners since she was a year old, and was bought by them as a clean slate. Along with constant maintenance and upgrades over the years, the mast, the chain plates, the standing and the running rigging were replaced in 2005 when the upgrade to Leisure Furl in-boom furling was made. This is a significant upgrade which essentially means Bon Accord sails with the security of a boat built in 2005! Bon Accord has also been upgraded with hard stern rails as a replacement of the original short pulpit, providing even more security to the already comfy deep aft cockpit and wide safe decks. This is also one of the RARE Mason 44’s that has all lead ballast in the keel. The owners inform me that iron was often used instead, but this boat has lead for higher ultimate stability. She is also the shoal draft version at 5’8″ deep, opening up many more harbors then at 6’8″ deep. Other upgrades such as four solar panels mounted above the bimini top and a FourWinds wind generator provide all the power you need to run refrigeration, lights and a laptop in the tropics without running the engine to keep up. A water maker frees you from the need to come along side a fuel dock and provides clean sweet water wherever you are. Comfort and safety have been the goal in outfitting this boat, and that has been achieved.
