Lord Nelson Victory tugs are a tug boat lover’s tug. Greymalkin is a unique and special Victory Tug in many ways. She is one of the few Victory Tugs with the reverse layout. The galley is to starboard with the companionway to port. Engine and machinery spaces are easily accessed via a walk-in door from the galley, two large hatches from the pilothouse, and removable steps in the forward companionway. She has been fitted with several desirable equipment upgrades, including rudder cheeks, a PSS drip-less shaft seal, and a Dickinson Pacific Model diesel stove for the best of cooking and comfort throughout the boat. Greymalkin is hull number 71 of the 76 built between 1982 and 1989. Jim Bachus, a marine architect, designed these sturdy boats with a high bow after the New York Moran Tugs of the 50s and 60s to look like a working tugs. The full displacement bottom is more like a lobster boat to have a slow roll and give good performance underway. There is a full ballasted keel extending under the single propeller. These boats are built to last with eleven layers of fiberglass to six inches above the water line and seven layers above that. The interior is handmade of solid wood from a single teak log for matching color and grain. No laminates will be found in these boats! Their theoretical hull speed is 8.08 knots but these boats are designed to cruise at 7 knots using less than 2 gallons per hour. Greymalkin has been personally autographed by the builder Tommy Chen. This is the highest-priced Victory Tug 37 on the market but the best value when compared to the others.  Every system has been upgraded, repaired, or replace.  From the custom Dodger over the entrance to the new electric windlass to the single-lever Teleflex cables,  this boat has it all and is as close to perfect as it can be made.
