Stella Maris was conceived as a very fast racing yacht, but with a cruising interor for comfort. She was designed by Alan Andrews of Glory, Alchemy and Pyewacket racing fame. Stella Maris was completed and raced in one or two regattas in Southern California. Her current owner who is in the marine industry rebuilt the interior to better suit his cruising family that sailed to the South Pacific. The yacht is very fast. In her cruising mode, 200+ mile days are easily obtainable, and with some cruising equipment removed for racing, she would be very competitive in any regatta. Stella Maris is easily sailed with two persons but can be raced competitively with only two additional crew. The layout allows the owner full privacy forward and the crew or family member can also enjoy their own staterooms with private heads. In 2009 and 2010 electronics were upgraded and the electric system engineered to minimize the time needed to charge batteries’ run time. The main engine has approximately 700 hours, generator 400 hours and watermaker 300 hours. The primary anchor gear and sail handling are set up to sail shorthanded.
