The design brief was for a visually stunning yacht to add photographic value to any film, while filling the dual role of a totally reliable, comfortable, camera platform with smooth motion in tough seas.  She is an exquisitely elegant Classic Yacht. She is Yawl rigged with an eye catching suit of reaching sails, featuring a high cut Yankee, a Genoa Staysail, a high aspect Main, a Mizzen Staysail, and a petite Mizzen. All with a sail plan easily managed by a couple getting up in years.   Downwind she flies large symmetrical or asymmetrical white Spinnakers with Lynx Logo’s in red. The hull in white with understated red stripes has well proportioned traditional overhangs, and a teak deck newly recaulked in perfect condition. The rugged Aluminum Hull is designed to Lloyds scantlings, and was built for possible operation in known ice and voyaging in high lattitudes. Silver Lynx carries the best equipment and electronics, with duplication for essential systems, to ensure the yacht remains operational at all times. She is fitted with a 6 cylinder Perkins Marine Diesel and a special Hundestad controllable pitch propeller. This enables her to motor sail very efficiently in all conditions, and gives her excellent passage making capabilities with a motoring range of 2,000 to almost 4,000 miles depending on conditions. With her generous fuel capacity, the yacht can meet demanding schedules to and from difficult locations. Peter Hartoft of Hartoft Marine Survey, Annapolis, Maryland performed a hull survey on Silver Lynx. September 13, 2011. Below is a summary of his findings. On your request, the 57′ Laurent Giles Yawl, “SILVER LYNX,” was inspected hauled out of the water at Washburn’s Boatyard in Calvert Marina in Solomons, Maryland on September 13, 2011. The purpose of the inspection was to ascertain the condition of the vessel’s hull exterior. The Yacht was built in South Africa by Far Ocean between 2000 and 2005 when the vessel was launched. The vessel was finished and fully commissioned in 2007. The vessel is built of aluminum plating on aluminum frames. Vertical frames are spaced 46cm apart and longitudinal frames around 40mm apart. Plating is 20mm at bottom of keel, 8mm on portions of keel, and 6mm from around garboard area to sheer line. The vessel’s hull was seen to be in extremely good cosmetic condition with paint finish excellent both on topsides and bottom and no unfairness.
