The “INDEPENDENCE” is a superb example of a performance-oriented raised salon center-cockpit cruising yacht of modern design and construction techniques. Designed by Rob Humphreys of both OYSTER & the UK America’s Cup efforts renown and built by the highly-regarded Ian Franklin Boat Builders Ltd of New Zealand in 2000, the “INDEPENDENCE” is a sophisticated combination of real quality of build with up-to-date materials and concepts. Her original Owners commissioned both the Naval Architect and the Yard with the objective to design and produce a fast, very strong & comfortable cruising yacht with modern features that a couple could easily manage;  that goal was certainly accomplished with the “INDEPENDENCE”! The “INDEPENDENCE’s” raised salon deck & center-cockpit configuration and excellence of design have all combined to deliver an exceptionally light & roomy interior as well as a very efficient deck layout. The easily-managed fractional rig, in carbon fiber by SPARCRAFT along with her LEISUREFURL mainsail furling system (also in carbon fiber), the (5) LEWMAR electric winches and a SLEIPNER Side-Power bow thruster all certainly do reduce the workload for managing the yacht. The electronics & Ship’s Systems  & general equipment inventories are comprehensive and will allow the “INDEPENDENCE” to roam at will .. anywhere the Owners’ would choose to go! Purchased in 2003, the “INDEPENDENCE” is offered for brokerage sale due to a change in the present Owner’s cruising plans over the past few years.
