I am a 2001 BAHA Cruiser King Cat that boasts a cockpit of 172 square feet and has never touched salt water from my first launch. I have spent my entire life on Lake Erie. I am a FRESH WATER BOAT that has never touched salt water and I run, feel, and look fresh. While I am currently a pleasure craft, I would make an excellent charter boat!
My engines are 7.4 MPI with just under 3,000 hours between the two. Yes, I know these are high hours but most were put on trolling one engine at a time. I have complete compression in all 16 cylinders along with all my original power and torque. I can achieve over 35 knots with 25 people on-board and not skip a beat. I am good in all weather and sea conditions. I have not sailed on the oceans but Lake Erie can easily achieve 8 to 12s in every direction along with high winds and I travel well through them.
I appreciate the Great Lakes but I would also do well on the oceans as a charter boat or for pleasure. My current owner has a few bets with friends that I will end up in Florida or the Island chains.
New, I can easily cost over 200K. There are many used like me on the boat sites for sale in the 70s and 80k that do not show as well and a few scows in the 50s. My stainless, aluminum rod holders, gel coat, engines and my electrical compartment and gauges look brand new and I’m all protected by an automatic Halon system in my engine room.
I show only one set of mild spider cracking where you step down to the aft deck and one linear crack on my hard top in the back. I have pictures I can show. Not structural.
I have a fully functional head and galley along with twin berths on each side, have plenty of storage for fishing rods and tackle below. My aft rail that wraps around the stern of the boat can easily be removed and replaced with rod holders, down rigger or other attachment can be put in its mount. This makes me functional for fishing, parasailing, diving or other charter activities, as well as added safety for pleasure boating.
I include an auto helm/pilot, radar, stereo, GPS and depth sounder.
