This lovely Classic Fife Schooner is in top condition and has just been ‘MCA’ approved for charter arrangements. The original Sunshine was built in Fairlie, in 1900, with sistership Asthore following in 1902 from the same design. The construction of this lovely schooner began in late 1999. She was launched in 2003 and shifted to the fitting out berth. In October 2004 the Myanmar Shipyards officially handed her over at a gracious ceremony fit for a super tanker, and away she sailed, first destination Phuket, Thailand, but only after a maiden cruise through the spectacular uninhabited islands of the Mick Archipelago. The interior which is hand crafted from teak and rosewood has been modified from the original layout to allow for the required modern safety standards, such as the 4 watertight bulkheads. Since 2005, Sunshine has graced the Mediterranean Classic yacht regattas with her elegant lines. Despite being a replica, she is considered by the Race Authorities to be sufficiently authentic to classify as a classic. Surprisingly simple to sail and maintain, she is a strong and seaworthy vessel, also ideally suited to long distance voyaging.
