LOCATION: This vessel did a very successfull shakedown cruise from the Baltic to it’s current location at the Port De Plaisance in La Rochelle, France on the Bay of Biscay. Port De Plaisance is a world class marine and sailing centre. If you dream of cruising the Mediteranian, the Greek Islands or western Europe, you don’t need to cross the Atlantic. You can fly to Paris, take a 2 hours train ride and you are in board and ready to cruise. If your dream is to do the Canals of France you are on site. Just lay the mast on deck and cruise through France exiting into the Med – step the mast and continue your cruise. It requires 3 components to come together to build a truly outstanding yacht: DESIGN: Richard Langer, engineer, is a professor of naval architecture. In his 40 year career he has designed over 200 sailing yachts, including 3 tall ships (Concordia being one). This Langer 12 meter, his latest design, has incorporated the best of the best of all his designs. CONSTRUCTION: Steel produces the strongest yacht possible, but requires a yard with vast experience and equipment to produce a hull with the shape and curves we’ve all come to expect. Only a few yards in the world (like ours) can accomplish this. DETAIL: The success of a project lies in the detail of each and every system, from the steel, finish, interior construction, insulation, electrical, plumbing, tankage, mechanical installation, deck equipment & rig, interior finishing and upholstery. A careful review of the attached construction photos will demonstrate our commitment to each and every detail. Our crew spent 21 months and over 20,000 man hours to produce this truly unique vessel. Every piece of wood installed in this vessel had 2 coats of primer sealer on both sides. The entire interior has 5 coats of finish, all hand sanded. Both heads received 7 coats plus the 2 primer. The galley top and table were custom done with Corean shipped from Canada. This material is very strong and light and easily refinished. The beam of over 14′ gives the interior the space and feel of a 45-50 foot vessel. This beam was carried well aft to accommodate a very spacious Master stateroom. The draft of only 5.5′ was to allow Caribbean and river/canal cruising. The stiffness was a function of beam and 3500 kg/7700 lbs of lead melted and poured into the steel keel.
