ORIGINALLY LAID UP IN 1992. RECREATED 2007 THROUGH 2010QUITE SIMPLY A GORGEOUS BOAT. MINIMALIST CRUISING/RACING MACHINE. FROM THE OWNER You?ll already be aware that the Sun Odyssey 44 is one of the finest multi-purpose blue water cruiser ever built. Her Kevlar reinforced hull is light, fast and very strong. During the last 3 years this particular boat has been totally updated, and every important piece of equipment has been replaced or refurbished. While refitting her, the main criteria observed was to make her fast for racing, while maintaining her excellent cruising characteristics. This was achieved by selecting the best and most modern equipment, including a completely new rig, aluminum winches, and all deck hardware. While meticulous attention to detail was observed during the afore-mentioned works no less expense was spared on the exterior. Exterior improvements include having the topsides professionally painted in light gray Awlgrip, deck resurfacing with special Awlgrip non-skid paint, and the cabin top refinished with a new gelcoat. Below the waterline, all new bronze through-hull fittings were installed, and to finish the job the hull was coated with Sea Hawk antifouling, which you may be aware is considered one of the very best available for the Caribbean waters. Outfitted with the very latest wireless Tacktick instruments, a Standard Horizon CPV350 chartplotter (only one to incorporate an advanced VHF radio), and a brand new Raymarine autopilot. In practice, we found that this combination provided the optimum performance, keeping weight to a minimum, while allowing very secure cruising. All critical functions are duplicated. Voilactus has a certificate issued by the Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) official measuring body. All interior woodwork has been refinished to a professional standard, and new fabrics were added to complete the job. A professional interior designer was consulted to insure that the final combination is modern, stylish, and functional. Finally, all interior and exterior lighting has now been complemented with energy efficient LED variants. This lighting option cuts energy consumption, and increases overall life, and reliability.
