Year: 2010Manufacturer: Selene Seattle

Production of the new Apollo line of offshore pleasure cats is well underway with the first Apollo 63 completed and the second being constructed. The concept behind the design, developed by Monaco-based Frenchman Stéphane Poughon, whose nautical background includes sailing at top level in the America’s Cup, Round the World Race and Single-handed transatlantic, was to build on all advances in catamaran design, from fast ferries, research vessels and round-the-world sailing cats to formula race boats, and produce a pleasure craft benefitting from stability, performance, but most of all, exceptional living space – a real home from home; ‘a marine villa.’ Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prevost, the successful team behind the world renowned Lagoon range, are in charge of naval architecture. Production is based in the state-of-the-art facilities of Jet Tern Marine in southern China, whose reputation for quality boat-building and finishing detail is already established. Production lines are currently underway, with charterboat options available and facilities are in place to build larger custom yachts to Owner specifications. With a beam of 29ft, the Apollo 63 boasts a living area of an impressive 145 m2 making this a very comfortable liveaboard cruiser. Interior décor, by Oliver Gibault, makes use of teak, light oak and natural bamboos for a contemporary feel. The owner’s suite, comprising a bedroom with Californian king sized bed, study area, ensuite and 180º views of the sea, is situated forward. Two ensuite guest cabins are located behind this. (Third guest/child optional). The main deck saloon is open-plan, with doors extending full width onto a large cockpit, ideal for entertaining and dual steps leading to a retractable swim platform spanning both hulls. A fully-equipped U-shaped galley area is located on the upper main deck, open to the living area and there is additional seating around the bridge. The flybridge provides additional entertaining with seating and a wet bar and housing for the tender. The Apollo 63 design incorporates bulbous bows allowing for a smooth passage and increased stability whether underway or moored. Two engine options – twin CAT 1010 hp for fast cruising, or twin CAT 450 hp for long range (3,300nm) blue water cruising are available to suit individual requirements.
