Skookum Maru, is a 1955 40 foot Monk design with 12’ beam, 4.6” draft and 21 gross tons.  She is built with a carvel-planlked hull of 1-14” Philippine mahogany and she is powered by a GM 3-71 diesel with dry stack exhaust. At 1,350 rpm it makes 7 knots burning just 1-1/2 gals of fuel.   The current owner and only her third did a three year restoration starting in 1995.  She has been re-decked, re-wired and re-plumbed.  Additions at the time were a new electrical panel, 40 gallon holding tank, new pumps, running lights and windlass.  The galley was redone with a new stove, sink and faucets and the entire boat was repainted and varnished, inside and out.    As with all labors of love the upkeep and upgrading never really stopped.  Newer features have been added throughout her life from Furuno Radar, Depth and GPS in 2000 to the 2011 hull topsides paint and bottom.
