S/V RAMBLING ROSE is a flush deck, aft cockpit masthead rig pilothouse cutter with raked stem, reverse transom stern with swim step, encapsulated ballast, cutaway full keel and skeg- hung rudder. Overhang is moderate and sheer is slight. Stainless tubing bow and stern pulpits are connected by two courses of stainless cable guardrails through stanchions with boarding gates port, starboard, and at the transom. A full-length stainless pipe rubrail is fitted at the deck edge full length. Headsail sheeting tracks are inboard along the side decks, and staysail tracks are on the forecabin top; shroud chainplates are inboard and led through the deck to the main bulkhead. Mainsail sheeting is mid-boom with the traveler just forward of the companionway hatch. The cockpit houses the engine controls and steering pedestal, the engine panel, sailing instruments, storage, LPG locker, and sailing winches; the cockpit is freed of water through sole mounted drains. A deck plate accesses the rudderpost to fit the emergency steering tiller. A flush hatch aft in the cockpit accesses the steering gear, through hull fittings and the rear of the auxiliary machinery compartment. Steps up from the cockpit to the flush deck lead along the cabin sides to the mast, bow deck and anchor gear. A hawse in the fore deck leads the anchor chain to the locker beneath.
A companionway leads forward from the cockpit across a bridge deck and down into the pilothouse. Aft to port is storage and electric panels, next forward a dinette convertible to a double berth. Forward to starboard is the helm, with steering and engine controls, navigation electronics array and nav. station; aft is a door to an enclosed quarter berth with wide single berth and storage beneath. Sole hatches in this compartment access the engine and batteries, and a bulkhead aft behind the companionway steps accesses the auxiliary machinery space with inverter, furnace, water heater, and steering gear. Steps forward lead down to the salon, where to port is a dinette/ berth with storage beneath; starboard is the galley. A passage leads forward from the salon to a hanging locker to starboard and an enclosed water closet with shower, basin, and manual marine toilet to port; then to a forward stateroom with full width berth with potable water tank beneath, an overhead daylight and emergency escape hatch to the foredeck, and a forward bulkhead hatch to the chain locker. Opening ports and hatches throughout provide interior ventilation; overhead hatches also serve as emergency exits from the cabin. Hatches in the salon sole access the keel sump and waste tank.
The mast is stepped to a reinforcement atop the keel and has upper and lower non-swept spreaders with single upper shrouds, fore and straight intermediate shrouds, and fore and aft lower shrouds; single headstay, single staysail stay and twin backstays; all to proper chainplates. Sheets and halyards are led aft to the cockpit. Interior finish is tongue and groove wood and Marlite overhead, wood panel and trim, non-skid teak and holly sole, and fabric upholstery; in good condition. The hull interior has been spray- foam insulated. Exterior is painted steel, non-skid, painted wood trim, and aluminum spars; in generally good condition.
